I was raised in Champaign, Illinois, which is neither farm country, nor city, nor Chicago suburb. I spent a year at DePaul University in Lincoln Park before transferring to Indiana University to complete the final three years of my undergraduate journalism degree.

I come from a loud, loving Midwest family with roots in southern England and the American deep South. My upbringing is reflected in my work--inquisitive, inclusive and done with intention and care. 

I currently live with my partner, Will, in Denver, Colorado. We share our apartment with three very sweet and mischievous cats and my extensive collection of skincare products.

In my free time I practice yoga, browse Facebook Marketplace and (occasionally) cook.
